Case Studies - T2S Live

T2S Live, part of Premier Technology Solutions, is an innovative developer of interactive multimedia applications for pubs, clubs and entertainment venues. They worked with TeleDesign in 2005 to create a fast, flexible text to screen engine that would power their latest SMS-based application T2S Live was keen to devise a system which could deliver content from mobiles to a plasma screen quickly and easily without involving either users or venue managers in high costs.

Rather than relying on expensive premium rate phone numbers to fund the technology, the T2S model powered by TeleDesign uses standard call tariffs to provide maximum affordability and encourage the sending of multiple SMS messages.

Approach and methodology

TeleDesign worked with T2S Live to develop a system that would meet all of their needs by hosting the engine on one of their powerful TeleServers. TeleDesign were able to create an engine that could handle over 6000 messages per minute and deliver them to a remote plasma screen anywhere in the country within a few seconds.

The design also allowed for the capture or incoming numbers to a central database and a degree of customizable filtration to allow the automatic removal of offensive words from text messages.

Outcome

"The telephony engine integrates fully with our own database; it gives me all the control I need over message routing, and the messages themselves are delivered onto screens with remarkable speed. Pub staff or DJs have the facility to delete messages and bar users if they so choose and they also have the facility to send advertising or information messages to the screen according to a predetermined pattern of their choice.

"Advertising can also be controlled centrally in real time for dozens or even hundreds of screens in venues across the country. It is an ideal solution for pub chains needing to update their promotional messages quickly and easily in real time. TeleDesign understood exactly what we needed and came up with the goods in less than a week. The system has been up and running pretty much without interruption for over two years and my customers and I are delighted with the results.

"Users send their text messages to an ordinary telephone number and it appears almost instantly on the giant screen for all to see. Skaters in our local Roller City, for example, can send each other fun messages and parents even use it to tell their children that they are waiting outside to collect them. Meanwhile the DJ can broadcast his own messages and promotional information in between those texts. And the local council can market those advertising slots or use them to promote community activities. It's a win-win solution."
